SA Nationals announce 2025 election team

The SA Nationals today announced their team of local champions standing up for regional South Australia at the 2025 Federal election.

Running for the Senate is Naracoorte Lucindale Councillor Monique Crossling, "Born and raised in rural South Australia, I want to be a stronger voice for regional SA in Canberra." As an experienced small business owner, Monique understands the challenges faced by regional businesses, from workforce shortages to rising costs. She understands how important it is to create the right conditions for local businesses to grow, thrive, and continue driving regional economies. Monique believes that South Australia needs and deserves more than one regionally based Senator, "Policy and legislation must be shaped with a regional lens, ensuring a fair go for regional communities." As a dedicated community advocate Monique has the experience and is ready to represent Regional South Australia.

Standing for Grey is Deputy Mayor of Whyalla Peter Borda - Peter strongly supports the Nationals focus on decentralized services, ensuring that regional communities have access to the resources they need, like comprehensive healthcare from birth to death. "This approach is essential for making regional areas attractive to young families and fostering economic growth." With his strong family values, advocacy experience, and commitment to regional development, Peter Borda is an exceptional candidate for Grey. His dedication to giving regional South Australia a strong voice in Canberra makes him the ideal representative for the communities of Grey.

Contesting Barker is Deputy Mayor of the Coorong District Council Jonathan Pietzsch - Jonathan is an advocate for localised regional health services, looking at ways to address the regional housing crisis and finding pathways to increase the supply of skilled workers in regional areas. "There needs to be a focus by government on greater diversification and localised resourcing of the communities in Barker." He is concerned about the cost of living crisis affecting regional SA, compounded by the impact of drought and supports practical measures to bring about change; lowering inflation, wage growth in real terms and the breakup of the supermarket duopoly in Australia. "The majority of Barker is suffering on the back of the driest 18 months on record, in the next 12 months it will not just be farming families that have to recover; the allied and supporting industries that supply primary producers will be feeling the pinch."
