The Nationals in WA created Royalties for Regions in 2008 to ensure regional communities receive their fair share of their state’s wealth. This visionary program has delivered billions in funding for vital WA projects – including better hospitals, schools, transport infrastructure, and essential services.

In stark contrast, South Australia’s regions are often forgotten and underinvested. This has led to regional crises, particularly in health, housing, and infrastructure.

In order to address this abysmal performance by successive state governments, the SA Nationals will seek to recreate WA’s success by implementing a similar program in South Australia. We will establish a fund that ensures that 30% of royalty receipts are spent in regional areas every year and that other taxation levied on activity in regional South Australia is returned at a similar level.
