SA Nationals Pledge to Support Law Abiding Firearms Owners.

In announcing his run for the seat of MacKillop State President of the Nationals, Jonathan Pietzsch said The Nationals will oppose any move by the Premier to act upon the Prime Minister's wishes for increased gun controls, saying law-abiding firearms owners have been unfairly targeted.

"The Nationals support our farmers, sporting shooters and recreational enthusiasts who abide by the law and are already some of the most regulated gun owners on the planet. There were adequate existing laws to prevent firearms being in the hands of the perpetrators of this horrific, deplorable terror attack in Bondi and South Australia doesn't need to be going after firearms owners so Labor can score political points," Mr Pietzsch said.

“It’s time the Premier gave assurances ahead of the state election that he won’t seek to change existing South Australian legislation to restrict law abiding firearm owners further. Those that follow the law aren’t the problem; punishing sporting shooters, feral pest hunters and farmers for the actions of terrorists is not the way forward – we cannot let terror win.”
